Wynantskill- Eugene (Geno, Larry) Laurence Flinton went to his final resting place on Sunday August 12, 2018 at Albany Medical Center due to injuries sustained from a tragic accident. His final hours were spent surrounded by his loving family and the people he touched during his life.
Eugene was born on May 1, 1939 in Troy NY to the late Harry and Mary Flinton and was a life-long area resident. He attended Sacred Heart School and LaSalle Institute in Troy, NY. Upon graduation, Eugene enlisted in the US Navy and served from 1958-1963. The welding and mechanic skills he learned in the Navy never left him and served him well in his employment and as a small business owner.
He was a member of the St. Jude Apostle Church, the Knights of Columbus, and was an avid Yankees and Nascar fan. He enjoyed boating and fishing, particularly at the Hidden Pond Campground in Brant Lake, NY where he generously shared his love of the Adirondacks with many.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Donna, his siblings Robert (Patricia) Flinton, Mary Ellen (John) Sullivan, Gerard (Maureen) Flinton, his children Lawrence (Fritzie) Flinton, Deborah (Harald Rabe) Flinton-Rhodes, Keith (Tina) Flinton, Lisa Flinton, honorary sons Manoj AndalKar, Chief David Keevern, 5 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband whose strong work ethic and generous spirit touched many. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday August 18, 2018 at 10am at the St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wynantskill NY.
