Joanne Gail Weitz died peacefully July 25, 2019 at St. Peters Hospice following her four year battle with carcino sarcoma. She was born in Albany NY and lived in the area her entire life. She had a smile that would light up any room she entered and will be truly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. She was a graduate of Tamarac High School and HVCC Nursing Program where she earned her degree as a registered nurse. Joanne worked at St. Peter’s Hospital on the NICU floor, Cohoes hospital, Ellis Hospital and the Baptist Retirement Center where she helped establish the Homeward Bound Program. Her patients were blessed with her loving and caring way. She was an avid gardener and loved to travel to special places with her loving husband and enjoyed her life every day. Joanne is survived by her husband and best friend of 30 years, David, her mother Mildred Weismann of Cohoes and the many special and wonderful friends and relatives she loved dearly. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at St. Peter’s Hospice who were special angels to her in her last days. Visiting hours will be on Monday, July 29 at the Wynantskill Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Rd., Wynantskill, NY from 4:00-7:00 P.M. followed by a brief service.
