Clifton Park – John “Jack” Dowd, 74 passed away on Thursday December 6, 2018 at St. Peters’ Hospital. Born in Troy he was the son of the late William Dowd and Mary Jaquay Dowd.
Jack graduated from C.B.A. High School, class of 1961, he attended and graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts at Skidmore College.
He served in The United States Army Reserve from 1964 to 1970 as a Corporal. He retired from New York State, Division for Youth Services in Albany.
He was a proud member of the Actors Equity Association and Dramatist Guild of America. Jack wrote 2 plays, he produced off Broadway plays, he had a limited partnership in several Broadway Productions including the 2013 Best Musical Kinky Boots.
Jack obviously loved all things Broadway, but his true loves in life were his three feline companions Frank, Fred and Pearl.
Jack is survived by his uncle Richard Dowd, many cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, infant brother William Dowd.
At the request of Jack there will be no calling hours and his funeral will be private. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet.
