Lawrence Rokjer Obituary

Wynantskill- Lawrence Rokjer, Age 69 of Wynantskill passed away suddenly at his home on March 7th. 

Larry was born December 6th 1950 in Troy, NY. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Joan and Robert Rokjer and sister Susan Williamson.

Larry was born and raised in Troy before the family moved to Poestenkill.  He attend Averill Park High School before enlisting in the Marine Corps in in 1968.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

After returning from his service, Larry spent some time traveling the country and living in California before returning home to Troy where he eventually met his wife Margaret.

Larry and Marge were married in 1980 and were soon blessed with two sons Aaron and Kyle and eventually, years later, three grandchildren, Kellan, Bryce and Brynn.

Larry loved spending the winter going to his grandchildren’s basketball games and the springtime was spent watching countless baseball games. On warm summer days he could be found on his front porch sitting in his favorite chair trading stories and jokes with his friends and family.  In August he could be found at Saratoga Racecourse, near the paddock, combing through the program picking the occasional winner.  Throughout the year he looked forward to lunches and dinners with friends.

He was survived by his wife Margaret Rokjer, his two sons Aaron Rokjer and Kyle Rokjer (Shari Babineau), grandchildren, Kellan, Bryce, and Brynn, siblings Barbara Goudreau (Larry), Linda McClure, Mary Anne Franco, Frank Rokjer (Lauren), Robert Rokjer, Michelle Lecuyer (Joseph) and countless nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call and are invited on Tuesday March 12, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Wynantskill Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Road, Wynantskill. Family reflections will be held on Wednesday March 13, 2018 at 10:00 am at funeral home, burial with military honors will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
