Wynantskill-Patrick J. Elligott, Jr., age 91, passed away peacefully at his Port Charlotte, Florida home on Monday, August 27, 2018.
Born in Troy NY, he was the oldest son of the late Patrick J. Elligott, Sr. and Elizabeth C.(Keaveny) Elligott, and is immediately survived by his daughter Linda A. Elligott of North Port, Florida, and son David P. Elligott of Londonderry, Vt.
His beloved wife Elinor Ann (Dufour) Elligott pre-deceased him in 2004.
Surviving are his sister Mrs. Betty Bott of Troy, NY and brother Ronald J. Elligott (wife Mary Ann) of Camden, Maine. He was proud of his family, in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews and kept in touch with family in Ireland (Mrs. Nuala Gleason).
Known to family and South Troy friends as “Joe”, he was a WWII Veteran, having enlisted at age 17, and honorably served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Naval Reserves. A graduate of School 12 and the Lasalle Institute in Troy, NY, Joe also received graduate certifications from Sienna College. A devout Catholic, he supported St Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, Wynantskill, NY, and San Pedro Catholic Church, North Port, Florida.
A long-time member of the American Legion and VFW, Joe also maintained an active Amateur Radio license for most of his life. He retired from General Electric in Pittsfield, Mass. after 35 years as an electronic components specialist, and held his “GE family” in high regard, especially the late Mr. Ralph Simmons (wife Barbara).
