Barbara Jane Butler, lovingly known as Barb, peacefully passed away on August 25, 2023, at the age of 76 in Troy, NY. She was born on January 26, 1947, in Pt. Pleasant, NJ. Barb courageously battled cancer before finding solace in the arms of Jesus.
Barb's calling in life was caring for the residents of Van Rensselaer Manor nursing home. She achieved her LPN and took great joy in treating each resident with dignity, love, and a big dose of her wonderful sense of humor. It is truly serendipitous that in her final days, Barb was cared for by the very staff whom she had trained.
Barb is survived by her loving daughters, Tammy Vitelli (Steven) and Michelle Boomhower (Kevin), her brother Kenneth Clayton, her sister Bonnie Walsh, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse Albert H. Butler, her sons Gary Van Camp and Richard Van Camp, and her sister Debbie Duffy.
Barb's faith played a significant role in her life. For 30 years, she was a devoted member of Church of the Covenant, where she served on the prayer chain. The members of COC became her extended family, and Barb cherished the hymns of the faith that united them.
A memorial service to celebrate Barb's life will be held on September 2, 2023, at 1:00pm at Church of the Covenant, located at 3055 NY Hwy 43 Averill Park, NY 12018.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Church of the Covenant, as a tribute to Barb's unwavering faith and commitment to her church community.
Barb's legacy of love, compassion, and humor will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. May her soul find eternal peace and may her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her loss.
