After a rich and rewarding life of 89 years, on June 16, 2022 Bernice “Bunny” Spungen Kessler passed away at her home in North Greenbush, NY.
Bunny was the only beloved child of immigrants, Louis and Sylvia Spungen, born on April 30, 1933 in the Bronx.
She graduated Washington Irving HS and later in life graduated with an AS from Nassau CC. Bunny loved her family, friends, the arts, ocean and traveling. She was a strong, independent woman who married the love of her life, Paul Kessler.
They spent 71 years together and had 3 children Marcy Steinberg (John), Lee (late Marie) and Robert (Penha). Jericho, NY was their family home for 37 years. Bunny was blessed with 5 grandchildren: Jana Steinberg Price (Paul), Justin Steinberg (Rae), Alyssa Kessler, Rachel Kessler and Jaden Kessler; and 2 great grandchildren: Sandra Lee Price and Sidney Steinberg.
She was a Comptroller at Travel Impressions for 20 years, affording her and Paul the opportunity to travel the world. After retirement, they lived the dream in Boynton Beach, FL for 23 years.
They returned last month to NY to be near family. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren along with nieces, nephews and friends treasure her memory and celebrate her life.
Donations can be made in her memory at Hadassah.org.
