Charles J. McGuirk III, 65, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Samaritan Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He entered into eternal life that day with peace and faith.
Born in Troy, New York, on April 23, 1960, Charles was a proud graduate of Averill Park High School, Class of 1978, and Hudson Valley Community College, where he earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science. A Master Carpenter by trade, Charles worked for Bennett Contracting in Albany, New York, for many years, specializing in custom bathrooms and kitchens.
A devoted Roman Catholic, Charles had a strong faith in God and prayed daily with his beloved wife, Lorraine. He loved working with his hands—designing, crafting, and building custom cabinetry. A true jack of all trades, he was always there to lend his skills to anyone in need, especially his family. His love for cats was inspiring; he built outdoor enclosures, made sure they were always fed, and provided unconditional love. Many became beloved members of the household.
Chuck also had a passion for music and dancing—he loved to sing, especially when surrounded by his brothers. His favorite artists were Elvis Presley and Kenny Rogers. He enjoyed the outdoors, loved gardening, camping with his beloved wife and her family, and had a special fondness for fast cars and long rides in his Dodge Challenger.
Charles is survived by his devoted wife and soulmate, Lorraine Mattice McGuirk, and his loving mother, Josephine Seifridsberger McGuirk. He was predeceased by his father, Charles J. McGuirk Jr.
He is also survived by his son, Charles (Chuck) McGuirk IV, daughters Sarah, Bridget, and Molly Peer; his stepson Adam Colby; and his cherished grandchildren Ava, Mara, Cain, and Eva McGuirk. Charles leaves behind his siblings Matthew McGuirk (May), Maureen McIntyre (Steve), Gregory McGuirk (Divina), Eileen Catlin (David), Sean McGuirk (Chris), and Amy Shea (Matthais), as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Wynantskill Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Road, Wynantskill, NY 12198.
