Douglas E Lentivech, 66, died on June 26, 2023 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy with his loved ones by his side. He was born in Lockport, NY to parents Joseph and Beatrice. The youngest of four children, he spent his childhood always among family.
After graduating from Newfane High School, he went on to receive a bachelor’s in Geology and then a Master of Philosophy at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. It is there that he met his loving wife of 39 years, Kathy Lentivech. He then earned a law degree from Western New England College. This ultimately led to a career of over twenty years at the New York State Department of Education, where he would become the Deputy Commissioner for the Office of Professions.
His retirement in 2020 gave time for a revitalized passion of woodworking. He also enjoyed attending mass at his collegiate parish at RPI and reconnecting to his Catholic faith. Other hobbies included playing the saxophone, reading graphic novels, traveling with his wife, playing with many family dogs over the years, and being a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills. Above all, he enjoyed spending time together with his wife and sons.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Lentivech and sons David Lentivech and James Lentivech. He is also survived by his sister Joan Simmons and brother Joe Lentivech and their families. Doug was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Beatrice Lentivech, as well as his brother Richard Lentivech.
