Gary L. Aldrich, Sr., 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Samaritan Hospital.
Born in Hoosick Falls, he was the son to the late Leon “Jack” Aldrich and Berta “Betty” Schiffmann Aldrich, and loving husband to Carol Leahy Aldrich for 54 years.
Gary graduated from Tamarac High School in 1968. He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1972. Gary worked as a printing engineer for A.B. Dick Company in Albany. He also worked for many years for the Averill Park school district.
Gary was an avid outdoorsman, motorcycle rider, fisherman, and hunter. On weekends, he was often found sitting at Lebanon Valley Speedway watching the races. Those who knew him would say he was a man of few words, and the words he did speak made everyone stop to listen.
Gary is survived by his wife Carol, his children Gary (Josie) Aldrich, Jr., Sara (Craig) Dzembo, Laura Aldrich, his grandchildren Christopher Harrington, James Thibeault, Logan Aldrich, Mason Aldrich, and his brother Ewald (Gail) Schiffmann.
The calling hours are on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 11:00am to 1:00pm and services will begin at 1:00pm at the Wynantskill Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Road, Wynantskill, NY. Burial with military honors will follow at the Berlin Cemetery.
