Gary Lennox, 56 died January 16, 2021. Born and raised in Troy, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corp from 1984 to 1988. He was a project manager for Carpet One in Albany.
Gary is survived by his son Gary (Katie) Lennox of Poestenkill, his grandson James Lennox, his siblings Dennis Peterson and Deborah (Rick) Jones and the late Lisa (Robert) Blais.
Gary was a devoted father and great friend. He had no greater joy than spending time at camp with friends and family, singing every word to Dave Matthews and giving everyone a run for their money in party games. Camp was a safe haven, thanks to Gary, as he was like a second father to many and his door was always open. He especially enjoyed beating the clock, making it to camp before the sunset, and watching as the weight of life’s stresses melted away.
Gary’s grandson James was his pride and joy. He loved watching him ride in his power wheel car and couldn’t wait to teach him how to ride a dirt bike. Gary could not have been more proud of James and the wonderful little boy that he is. He looked forward to meeting his first granddaughter this spring.
Among Gary’s best friends was Lisa. Although no longer married, Lisa provided sound advice and always lended a listening ear.
Hardworking doesn’t seem to capture how much effort and time Gary put into his job. When he wasn’t at the office, he was working on side jobs to complete his 60 hour work weeks. To say he was meticulous is an understatement. There was only one way of doing things, the right way. His big personality helped him make countless friendships throughout the years.
Gary was an outspoken advocate for animals. Always having a home with furry friends was important to him. His magnetism towards anyone and everyone’s pets was a testament to the kindness of his heart. Among all who loved him, he will be greatly missed by his cats Bandit and Babe.
