Poestenkill-Suddenly on December 19, 2025, Gerard “Jerry” Lettko entered into eternal rest at his home.
Jerry was born in Albany, New York on January 28, 1965, to the late George and Helen O’Connell Lettko. He graduated from Troy High School, Class of 1983, and continued his education at Hudson Valley Community College. In 1992, he married his beloved wife, Mary K. Oathout. Together they built a life in Troy, New York, before settling in Poestenkill in 2001, where they raised their family and created many lasting memories.
Jerry worked for many years in call center management and customer service for several local companies and most recently served as a driver for The ARC of Rensselaer County, a role he took pride in for the people he helped each day.
Above all else, Jerry was a family man with a quick wit and a warm heart. He loved radio production, and every genre of music (especially Jazz). He could always be counted on for a good joke, and especially enjoyed teasing and laughing with his children, nieces, and nephews. He was happiest spending time with neighborhood friends, sharing stories, and enjoying simple moments of connection. Jerry’s sense of humor, kindness, and ability to make people feel at ease will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary K. Oathout. He was the proud and devoted father of two children: Joseph (Gina) Lettko of Rensselaer, New York, and Ann Lettko of Madison, Wisconsin. He is also survived by his siblings: John (Carol) Lettko of Point Richmond, California; Mary (Peter) Hines of Latham, New York; Jim (Karen) Lettko of Punta Gorda, Florida; and Kevin (Linda) Lettko of Waltham, Massachusetts. Jerry also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, godchildren, and cousins.
