Grace Cedar Obituary

Wynantskill- Grace V. Cedar, 89 passed away on Saturday June 4, 2022. Grace Virginia Cedar lived her entire life in the North Greenbush area. Known for her exceptional beauty, she always had words of encouragement, comfort and wisdom.  Her 4 children were closest to her heart and she kept us in line and taught us to work hard.

For her career, Grace was an interior decorator with such companies as WT Grant, Boulevard Decorators and Ken Feiden's Furniture until her retirement.  The retirement didn't last long when she met Anne Zowner and helped Anne raise her 2 boys, Peter and Alex.

Grace was a lover of the outdoors and all natural living things.  She was an accomplished horsewomen enjoying many hours in the saddle with her horses Bill, Bronson & Beauty, Echo, Tess & Cedero and many others.  She loved her black lab Frieda even after she ripped the living room curtains down and tore the couch apart.  That's the kind of love she had - deep and forgiving.

With her beloved sister Janet Duclos, they hiked all over New York & Vermont on various trails and in parks.  They especially loved Grafton State Park and Peebles Island.

Our mother had friends of all ages.  She LOVED children and animals and you knew where you stood with Grace, she either liked you or she didn't, there was no in between.

She was a believer in God and what she knew about anything derelict you could write with a Sharpie on the side of a peanut. The angels in heaven might have a little trouble keeping up with her!

Grace will be sorely missed by her children, David, Judy, Stephen and Karen, respectively; grandsons Brian, Steve, Kris & Matthew, granddaughters Carrianne & Cassandra, great grandchildren Grace, Jordan & Hailey, Hailey Lynn, her sister in law Barbara Dorr, brother in law Robert Duclos, numerous nieces - Susan Dorr, Linda, Diana & Debbie Duclos and nephews - Robert Duclos, Bradley, Ryan, Michael, Jeffrey and David Dorr; grand dogs Luna, Sam, Cody & Bru, daughters in law Sue & Rita Cedar, son in law Ed Dore.  She is predeceased by her brothers John & Richard Dorr, sister Janet Duclos and son in law William Medalla, 2nd husband of Judy.

The last 4 of her 89 years were spent happily at the St. Jude’s apartments, living on her own until her passing of natural causes.

Please give generously in her memory to either of these good causes: Unbridled Horse Rescue, 11 Wood Lane, Greenville, NY 12083 or Berkshire Natural Resource Council, www.bnrc.org.
