Helen (Kaufmann) Keohan

Wynantskill- Helen Cecelia Keohan (Kaufmann), 66 of Wynantskill, NY peacefully passed away after a brief illness on February 7, 2018 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn.                                                                              

Helen was born on January 22, 1952 in Troy, NY and was the daughter of Arnold Kaufmann and Marietta Kaufmann (Lewis). Helen was educated at Tamarac and graduated in the Class of 1970.  She also graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Bryant & Stratton College.  When her children were young, she was a homemaker and after earning her degree she became a successful Human Resources Professional at Vanderheyden Hall. On May 15, 1999, Helen was united in marriage to William Keohan and they shared a blessed union of 18 years together.                                                                                                                                                        

Helen was a devoted Christian and long-time member of St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church. She was a proud member of the Rosary Society at St. Jude’s.  Helen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren play sports, cooking and baking, going shopping in Saratoga and occasionally trying her luck at the Saratoga Casino. She also enjoyed traveling to Florida with her husband William and walking the beach.                                                                                                                                                 

 Helen is survived by her beloved husband, William Keohan of Wynantskill and her two loving children, Jodie Carter and her husband, Wayne Carter of Cohoes, NY and Carla Mastriano and her husband, Joseph Mastriano, Jr. of Latham, NY; her special grandchildren Julia Szozda, Ella Mastriano and Jonathan Szozda; one of fifteen children she is survived by also survived by her siblings Carl (Cheryl) Kaufmann of Springfield, MA, Thomas Kaufmann of Boytonville, NY, Angie Conway of Troy, NY, Eugene (Janice) Kaufmann of Halfmoon, NY, Perry (Betty Jean) of Troy, NY, Mary (Douglas) Pratt of Boytonville, NY, Dennis (Denise) Kaufmann of Hoosick Falls, NY, George (Karen) Kaufmann of Hoosick, NY, Doris Kaufmann of Kingston, NY, Paul (Lynn) Kaufmann of Cohoes, NY and Carol (Robert) Platel of Cohoes, NY. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by 3 brothers Robert Kaufmann of Hoosick Falls, NY, David Kaufmann of Troy, NY and Henry Kaufmann of Boytonville, NY. Special thank you to her brother, Thomas Kaufmann and sister, Carol Platel.                                                                                                            

Funeral services Monday February 12, 2018 8:45 am from the Wynantskill Funeral Home and 9:30 am at St. Jude The Apostle Church 43 Brookside Ave, Wynantskill, with Reverend Anthony Ligato officiating. Burial will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.  Family and friends are invited and may call from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Helen may be made to St. Peter’s Hospice Inn, 310 S.
