It is with great sadness that the family of James (Jim) Conroy announces his passing on May 6, 2026, at the age of 78, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on March 3, 1948, in Troy, N.Y., he is the son of Cecilia DeVoe and the late Clarence E. Conroy and was raised in Watervliet. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy Mary Ethier Conroy.
Jim was a graduate of Watervliet Central High School, he then joined the army from1968 to 1974. He was a Sergeant E5, Medical Corpsman and a First Aide Attendant before joining the National Guard. After The Army Jim received his Associates Degree at Albany Business College. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a Regional Construction Project Manager for New York State. After retirement he worked at Frear Park Golf Course where he enjoyed the interaction and conversation with like minded lovers of golf.
Jim’s passion for golf resulted in multiple club championships at Van Schaick Country Club including three time club champion, seven time season club champion, and fourteen time two-man club champion.
Jim’s love of sports also led him from a CYO Basketball Coach to a high school and college referee. He impacted the people he coached and remained in contact with those he helped shape into responsible young men.
Jim is survived by his mother Cecilia DeVoe, his loving children Kelly (Jon) Beaulac, and J. Scott Conroy. He was also grandfather of six granddaughters Grace Beaulac, Abigail Beaulac, Katherine Beaulac, Emily Conroy, Gwendolyn Conroy, and Madeline Conroy. Jim is also survived by his brother David Conroy and his sisters, Carole Borkowski and Darcy Murphy.
Jim will be remembered for his love of golf, music (the oldies), participating in the Cohoes and Green Island American Legion along with the Lansingburgh Veterans Club. Jim's biggest joy in life was his unwavering love of his family. His family was his greatest joy and proudest legacy, and his love will continue to live on through them.
