Jane Catherine (Mulqueen) Horning

Jane Catherine Horning, 93, of Clifton Park, NY, passed away peacefully at home on July 28,2026 surrounded by the love of her family.                                                                                                  

 Jane was born on June 21, 1933, in Gardner, New York, to John and Theresa Mulqueen. She was the last surviving daughter of their nine children. Growing up on the family farm gave Jane some of her happiest memories. She often reminisced about those early years, remembering the beauty of the countryside, the strong work ethic, and the deep love of family that shaped the woman she became.                                                                 

Jane graduated from Walden High School in 1952 before beginning her career with Highland Telephone Company, later continuing with New York Telephone Company. It was there that she met the love of her life, Harold Horning.

Jane and Harold were married in 1959 and shared 66 wonderful years together, building a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Harold's passing in 2025 left a void in Jane's heart that never truly healed, but she found comfort in the love of her family and the treasured memories they shared.

Nothing brought Jane greater joy than spending time with her family. She treasured cheering on her grandchildren at sporting events, attending their musical performances, and celebrating every milestone in their lives. She shared an especially close bond with her granddaughter, Alexis, who lovingly called her "Meem." During the last two years of her life, they spent countless days together sharing stories, laughter, and quiet moments that became treasured memories for them both.

Jane found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved traveling to Aruba, trying her luck at the slot machines at Saratoga Casino, and was an avid golfer and bowler who proudly participated in Rally for the Cure golf events supporting breast cancer awareness. She also had a deep love for nature. Her yard was filled with birdhouses, and she could often be found watching the birds from her window, delighting in their daily visits. She enjoyed observing the wildlife around her home, and those peaceful moments brought her endless joy. Jane found true happiness in life's simplest blessings.

Jane is lovingly survived by her daughters, Nancy Hull (Dan), Ann Dawdy (Michael), and Linda D'Agostino (Michael); her cherished grandchildren, Andrew, Eric, Alexis, and Michael; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible caregivers who made it possible for Jane to remain in the comfort of her own home. Tricia, Sharon, Debbie, and Jen cared for Jane with extraordinary kindness, compassion, and dignity. The love and support you showed Jane and Harold went far beyond your roles as caregivers. You became part of our family, and for that we will be forever grateful.

Jane will be laid to rest beside her beloved Harold at Saratoga National on August 3rd, 2026.
