It is with deep sadness that the family of Joan E Michaels announces her passing on February 5, 2026 at the age of 90.
Joan was born in Ticonderoga, NY & was one of seven children. She lived in Crown Point, NY until 1969, when she moved to Grafton, NY. She married the love of her life on May 2, 1970. They bought a home in Poestenkill, NY, where they lived until their passing. She had six children, he had three & they had two more together, for a family of thirteen.
Joan was a loving, caring & selfless Mom, Grandma & Great Grandma. She never missed a birthday, anniversary or someone’s special day because she kept track of them all on her big calendar. She loved spending time with family & friends. She had a heart of gold & was loved by many.
Joan enjoyed watching Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, her daily Soap Operas & doing crossword puzzles. She was a devoted NY Yankee & San Francisco 49ers fan. She always enjoyed a daily cup of tea at 2:00 pm. Sunday mornings she would listen to Country Music.
Joan is survived by her children, Donna (Jeff) Dooley of Albany, Richard Gould (Vicki Ostrander) of Crown Point, Leslie (Lorraine) Gould of Lansingburgh, Harry Gould of North Carolina, Alan (Donna) Gould of Wynantskill, Tom (Deanna) Gould of Rotterdam, Diane (Matt) Allen of Poestenkill, and Francis Michaels, Jr. of Ohio. Stepdaughter Bonnie (Don) Smith of Stephentown. Brother Clarence (Rita) Gibbs of Crown Point. Sister-in-law Turzah Gibbs of Crown Point. Stepsister Elaine Godsey of Florida. 15 Grandchildren & 19 Great Grandchildren. Special Momma to Bonnie (Dave) Robinson of Florida. Also, several cousins, nieces & nephews.
Joan is predeceased by her husband, Francis Michaels, Sr. Brothers Donald Gibbs, Kenneth Gibbs, Roland Gibbs. Sisters Elizabeth Davis & Norma Woelfershiem. Parents Millard & Frieda Gibbs, stepmother Louise Gibbs. Stepbrother Howard Thatcher. Stepdaughters Susan Key & Karen Michaels.
