North Greenbush-Larry J. Wortz passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on November 23, 2023 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn surrounded by his three children.
Born in Troy, he was the son to the late Lawrence Wortz and Margaret Ackner Wortz, and the loving husband to Penny Montanye Wortz. Larry was a graduate from Troy High School, Class of 1966.
Larry worked for Verizon for over 30 years. He started as a lineman in 1969 and ended his career in 2003 as a Fiber Optics Instructor. After retirement he worked with his son John’s construction business for several years.
Larry’s pride possessions included his Ford Model A&T cars and Harley Davidson motorcycle. Larry enjoyed reading and camping. He was a big dog lover, especially his two golden Hilda and Missy. Larry also enjoyed hunting with his son John for many years. He was a fan of NASCAR and watching FOX NEWS.
In addition to his wife Penny, he is survived by his children, Lorie Ann (Roy) Sayward, Susanne Pantea and Larry John Wortz II. Step children Terry Montanye, Rocky Montanye and Ginny Montanye. Grandchildren Matthew (Jessica) Sayward, Cody (Jerrica) Sayward, Hannah Pantea, Mackenzie and Hailey Wortz. Great grandchildren Blake and Harper Sayward. His sister Debra (Robert) Bazicki. Larry is also survived by the mother of his children, Jane Fucci.
Family and friends are invited and may call Saturday December 9, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm with funeral services at 3:00 pm with Reverend Jeffrey Palmer officiating all at Wynantskill Funeral Home 294 Whiteview Road, Wynantskill.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Rensselaer County for the wonderful care given to Larry and request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory to Community Hospice, (Larry Wortz), 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
