Leanne Conron Obituary

Leanne Malone Conron of Wynantskill died on January 14, 2026, surrounded by her
loving family. Leanne was born in Troy on April 26, 1940, the eldest child of Leo and
Marguerite (Evers) Malone. She married Francis X. Conron, jr. in 1964 and they were
together for more than 52 eventful, happy years until his passing in 2017. They had two
daughters, Anne-Marie Malak and Martha Goss, and three grandchildren, Ashleigh
Armstrong, Mason Goss, and Andrew Malak.
Leanne loved spending time with her family, playing games, cooking together, and
traveling. She loved swimming, especially at Snyder’s Lake, from the time she was a
baby into her 80s, and made sure that her children and grandchildren were good
swimmers, too. She loved making pumpkin and apple pies with her grandchildren.
Playing with her grandchildren and being a part of all of their activities was a special joy.
She never missed a concert, a play, or a game. She had a wonderful time with all of her
family at the shore, Disney World, and other trips. A favorite vacation was the time she
and Frank spent traveling around Ireland. Most recently, she was delighted to make a
trip to Vermont for her granddaughter Ashleigh’s wedding to Oliver Armstrong, where
she could not stop smiling and crying at the same time.
Her friends were very important to her and she loved spending time with them. She
looked forward to seeing friends for Saturday morning breakfast each week and other
times to catch up.
She was always very active in her community. She served on the North Greenbush
Zoning Board of Appeals for 25 years. She was a Brownie and 4-H leader, and
volunteered in the school’s reading program. At St. Jude’s Church, she was a Rosarian,
and, together with Frank, taught religious education for many years and volunteered
with the Pre Cana marriage preparation ministry.
Leanne returned to college after raising her children and earned straight As. She
graduated from Hudson Valley Community College and Empire State College. She had
a varied career including work at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, the VA, the
Rockefeller Institute, and the Town of North Greenbush. She was a water aerobics
instructor at the Y after her retirement and looked forward to the class’s Friday lunches
together.
Leanne had a hearty laugh and approached life dauntlessly. There was no project she
wouldn’t take on. She sewed matching mother-daughter outfits, crocheted blankets for
everyone, climbed on the roof, took on home repairs and building projects. She enjoyed
gardening and canning her “crop”. She was known for her delicious chili sauce,
spaghetti sauce, and raspberry jelly. When she finally admitted that she might need a
hand in her later years, she was grateful to her son-in-law Michael Malak for his help.
In addition to her husband, Frank, and her parents, Leanne was predeceased by her
siblings Thomas (Bonnie), Joanne, Margaret, Shirley (Fred) Brown, and David Malone.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren, sister Marilyn (Stephen) Reinstein,
sister-in-law Sr. Patricia Conron, and many nieces and nephews.
