WYNANTSKILL – Margaret A. Shields, 88, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Troy, New York, Margaret was the daughter of the late James and Kathryn Shields. She spent her life in the Capital Region, residing in both Watervliet and Wynantskill. A graduate of Catholic High School, Margaret dedicated many years of service as a Home Health Aide with The Eddy.
Margaret was a devout Catholic. She found great joy in gardening. She especially had a love for traveling.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, James and Kathryn Shields; her brother, James Shields; and her sister, Constance Keegan.
She is survived by her loving family, Leo Keegan (Elizabeth), Deborah Kreis (Kevin), Kathryn Corbett (Martin), Rebecca Smith (Brian), Hazel Shields, James Shields, Jr. (Bethany), John Shields (Bethany), and Carrie Noyes (Clarence). She also leaves behind her beloved granddaughter by choice, Elizabeth Elting, along with many other relatives and friends.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 43 Brookside Avenue, Wynantskill from 9:00 AM-10:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place following the Mass at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
