Marguerite Favro Obituary

Troy, NY- Marguerite J. Favro, 92, of Troy passed away peacefully in her home on May 29, 2021 after a brief illness.

Born in the Mt. Ida area of Troy to the late Samuel and Grace DeStefano Grinaldo She was the loving wife of the late Donald E. Favro for 25 years.  Marge felt blessed to find happiness again for another 25 years with Jimmy (Vincent) Scorsone.

Marge worked for 30 years for Behr Manning Paper Company in Green Island and upon retiring worked for Emma Willard School, RPI and full time for Sidelines Sports Pub doing what she loved best, cooking. Wherever she went she brought along a large sheet pan of something delicious. When she was not cooking, she was visiting with wonderful friends at Kays Pizza and the American Legion Post in Wynantskill where Marge was in the Woman’s Auxiliary. When summer rolled around you could be sure to find her at the “Joe” enjoying her favorite pastime, cheering on the Tri-City Valley Cats Baseball Team with Danny Carubia calling the play by play.

Marge was the devoted mother of son Gary (Debbie) Favro and daughter Karen Hanna (Andy Hathaway). She was proud of her two grandchildren Don (Amy) Favro and Kimberly Favro. She  was blessed with three great grandsons Kole, Jack and Fitz Favro. She was also proud of her brothers, sisters, their spouses and nieces and nephews, particularly her niece Grace Flagg and great nieces Sarah and Olivia Flagg and the late Richard O’Donnell.

Marge was predeceased by her five siblings and spouses, Angelo Grinaldo, Nicholas (Jean) Grinaldo, Mary (Andrew) O’Donnell, Josephine Grinaldo, and Angela (Donald) Bouchard. She is survived by nieces and nephews, William (Donna) Bouchard, Angela Burrett, Ann Marie (Patrick) Strack, Virginia (the late Dennis) Ryan, Nicholas (Margo) Grinaldo. Marge is also survived by great nephews, Matthew Bouchard, Eric Ryan and Daryl (Kristi) Ryan. She is the great-great aunt to Maxwell and Samuel Ryan.

Her beloved doctors that kept her heart going and spirit alive were, Dr. John O’Bryan and Dr. Benton. Many people stopped by during Marge’s illness to share their love, including Dr. O’Bryan and her exceptional neighbor, Jim Wysocki who always checked on Marge and Jim over the years and was thought of as another son.

Family and friends are invited and may call Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Wynantskill Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Road from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.  A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:00am inside the entrance of the Joe Bruno Stadium where Marge had season’s passes and never missed a game. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy.
