Mark Kelp

My beloved, Mark Kelp, passed away on Friday, February 07, 2026 in the Emergency Room at St. Peter's Hospital, in Albany, NY after a year-long health struggle.  

Mark was born on the 8th of June 1964 and was the adopted son of Harold Kelp and Dorothy Radaker Kelp who welcomed him into their home on November 30th 1964 and raised him as their own in Delmar, New York.  

Mark graduated from Bethlehem Central High School in 1982, went on to attend college at SUNY Morrisville, and ultimately became a Master Automotive Technician for GM. He had a passion for building custom trikes and nothing mechanical was "safe" around him; he would always take it apart, redesign, rebuild and modify it to his liking.  Whatever it was, was always better after Mark had modified it.  

Mark was a quiet, caring man with a subtle sense of humor, big heart, and an unmatched love for seafood.  He enjoyed boating, swimming, snowmobile riding, fishing, hunting, tinkering on odd projects, poking at the wood in a warm campfire surrounded by family and friends, and riding through the mountains with me (Monica) on our trike(s) or in our Classic 41 Chevy Coupe.  

Mark is survived by his loving partner Monica Johnson, sisters, brothers, an uncle, nieces, nephews, lots and lots of cousins, and friends.  

I truly believe heaven has a new mechanic in town and God needs to keep His eyes on the gates, because, knowing Mark, he will try to modify them as well.  Words cannot express how much this writer and I'm sure others, will miss him.  

Plant a tree in his memory (not a pine though; he hated them), buy food for a pantry, or donate your time and resources to help others; this would be what Mark would have wanted you to do instead of wasting your money on flowers for him.

 Remembering him will be easy, we will do it every day, missing him is a heartache that will never go away.  Rest my beloved, I will see you again someday.
