Wynantskill-Mary Ellen Gibson, born October 18, 1930, went to her heavenly father on January 6, 2021. Born in Troy, NY to Thomas F. and Catherine M. Jordan Cantwell. She attended Troy schools, and was married to William E. Gibson. Mary Ellen was a homemaker, mother of six, and had a work history which included Cluett & Peabody, Perrotta’s Bakery, Vanderhyden Hall where she was a cook, School 18, and the Sisters of St. Joseph’s in Latham. Mary Ellen resided with her family in Wynantskill, NY for over 60 years. She was a devout communicant of St. Jude’s Church, where she served as a member of the Rosary Altar Society, a Eucharistic Minister and a long-standing member of the church choir. She was also a member of the Wynantskill Seniors Bowling League, and a member of the Grafton Seniors. Her hobbies included crocheting, where she could follow a pattern and make beautiful doilies and tablecloths. She made the best biscuits and pie crust, and always enjoyed having her family in her home for the holidays. She thoroughly enjoyed her trips to the Saratoga Racino with her niece. She lost more than she won, but had a great time doing so. Mary Ellen was an avid Yankees fan, watching each game played with the Gibson spirit. She loved and admired Derek Jeter, #2! Her love, prayers and generosity will be missed by her family and friends. Especially those at St. Jude’s apartments, where she made many friendships and delivered Holy Communion, and assisted Father Anthony Ligato with weekly mass. She was predeceased by her husband, William E. Gibson, her sisters, Alice Cantwell, Patricia Cantwell Russell, and brother, Thomas E. Cantwell. Mary Ellen is survived by her six children: William T., Lawrence M., Patricia M., Joseph G., Michael P., Lori A., several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren who will all miss her love and concern. Mary Ellen is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews that will remember her as one of the most loving, sassy ladies they have been blessed to know. Family and friends are invited and may call on Monday January 11, 2021 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 43 Brookside Avenue, Wynantskill. Funeral mass to follow at 10:00 am.
