Neil Wood Raymond passed peacefully, June 11, 2017, at the Albany Stratton V.A. Hospital. Born Dec.3, 1939 as the eldest son of George and Edna Wood Raymond.  Neil attended the Averill Park Schools, he joined the United States Air Force from 1958-66. He went on to join the Local 201 Painters Union in Albany, and retired in 1996. Neil was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, and was a huge fan of NASCAR, enjoying many events with his family.  One of Neil’s biggest gifts was his giving of himself; he would join his brother in law volunteering at the City Mission for many holidays.  He also was always there for his family.

In 1961 Neil Married Joyce Salvi, and had 2 sons together. Karl D. (Kat) of Petersburgh, and Jeffrey N. of Wynantskill. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his youngest brother Gard in 2011. He is survived by his siblings; Keith (Late Joyce) California, Gail (Malta), Brian (Sue) Wynantskill, and Lynn (Late Ricky Barton) Raymond of Wynantskill.  He also leaves 3 Aunts, and many, cousins, nephews and nieces and friends.

The family wishes to thank the V.A. hospital for the wonderful care they gave, and for the entire staff being so amazing at all hours of the day and night!

There will be a memorial service Sunday, July 2, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Post, 111 Main Avenue, Wynantskill, NY.

The family plans a funeral and burial at the Church of the Assumption, 64 Church St. Redford, NY, Saturday, July 8, at 12 p.m., Fr. Mickey will officiate mass at 1 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Capitol City Rescue Mission, 259 S. Pearl St., Albany, NY 12202 in memory of Neil W. Raymond.
