Robert "Bob" Napier

Latham- Robert (Bob) Napier, devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather passed away at his residence surrounded by family on Tuesday December 16, 2025.

Born on September 12, 1956, in Latham, NY, Bob was the son of Sarlin (Rich) Napier and Gloria Napier (Tuck) and the brother to Steve Napier (Denise) and the late Cindy Napier.  Over the years, Bob became close with his cousin, Tom VanAmerongen (Stephanie) and enjoyed their weekly get togethers. 

Bob attended Shaker High School in Latham.   After graduation, Bob enjoyed traveling around the states playing softball.  Bob devoted his life to Verdoy Firehouse and eventually became a life member.  During his time, he held titles of lieutenant, captain, assistant chief, chief, commissioner, and most importantly, a mentor to all. He also served the Town of Colonie as a Fire Coordinator, and served on numerous advisory committees for NYS.

Bob enjoyed his retirement going on cruises, going to the casino, and bowling.   Bob enjoyed bowling so much, that he bowled on three leagues during the week and always tried to get his next 300 score.   Bob also enjoyed his summers on the boat fishing with his family and going to the stock car races.  

Bob was a loving husband to his wife Janet Napier for over 40 years.  Bob loved Janet and always supported her no questions asked.   Bob and Janet enjoyed their cruises, traveling the country, and most importantly, the family that they built.

Bob was a proud grandfather to his grandchildren Delilah Dodge and Colton Dodge.   They were the light of his life and his reason to fight. In addition to his grandchildren,  Bob is survived by his children Robyn Napier (Michael) and Richard Napier.  

We are grateful for the care he received during his illness.  A huge thank you to the staff at NYOH, Hospice, his Hospice nurse Stephanie for all she has done for our family this past year, and everyone else that has been there throughout his fight.  We could not have helped him extend his time with us without you.  Thank you to everyone at Verdoy Fire Department for your care and love during this difficult time. 

A celebration of life will be held at Verdoy Firehouse on December 28th from 12pm to 4pm.
