Obituary

Rudolph “Rudy” Caiazza, 84 passed away on July 12, 2023 at Van Rensselaer Manor surrounded by his loving family. Born in Salerno, Italy on January 8, 1939, he was the son of Antonio Caiazza and Maria Tenore Caiazza, and the dedicated husband to Carol Caiazza.

Rudy served in the United States Army National Guard. Rudy was a resident of Rensselaer County most of his life where he started his own bicycle business, the infamous “Rudy’s Schwinn Cyclery” of Lansingburgh, NY. This was a thriving part of the community for several decades, offering a unique experience for all residents of Troy. Once retired, Rudy and Carol loved being in Florida for the winters & returning home for spring and summer months. Rudy adored and loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. Carol and Rudy always made it a priority to attend all their grandchildren’s sporting and celebratory events. Spending time with family were his most cherished moments. Rudy loved being in the sunshine and enjoying the long days of summer. If you knew Rudy, you also knew he was a “tinker” who could fix and build just about anything.

In addition to his wife Carol, Rudy is survived by his children Kimberly (Sean) Culnan of West Sand Lake, Rudy G. (Kelley) Caiazza of Brunswick, Jerry (Dawn) Caiazza of Schaghticoke and Nicky (Sarene) Caiazza of San Diego, his grandchildren Mikayla Culnan, Rudy A. Caiazza, Christopher Caiazza, Ethan Caiazza, Riley Caiazza, Elsa Caiazza, Enzo Caiazza and Nolan Caiazza, also survived by his brother Rocco Caiazza in Italy. In addition to his mother and father, he was predeceased by his grandson Zachary Culnan.
