Sandra (Colello) Gibson, 68, of Averill Park passed away unexpectedly in her home on September 10, 2023.
Born in Albany, NY. she was a graduate of Averill Park High School in the class of 1973.
Sandra worked several years as a nanny, as well as being a single mom before meeting the love of her life, Jerry. She and her husband owned Gibson’s Bar in the city of Rensselaer for several years where they earned the respect and friendship of many. Before retiring Sandra worked as an account manager for G.C.A. Services. Sandra enjoyed fishing with her husband, as well as watching cooking and home remodel shows together. Sandra had a vast collection of Barbie dolls from around the world. True to her Italian heritage, she loved cooking and baking, as well as doing arts and crafts with her grandchildren and is famous for baking their favorite themed birthday cakes. Sandra was full of creativity and talent - winning contests for her son’s costumes, making toy chests for babies born into the family, and countless other creations. Sandra will be most remembered and cherished for her unbounded love to all who knew her…always an open door to visit, a meal to share, a listening ear, or advice to offer. We will miss her dearly.
Sandra and Jerry had a role model marriage filled with love and dedication, and they were looking forward to celebrating their 44th wedding anniversary in October.
Sandra was the daughter of the late John Colello and late Arlyn (Hutchins) Colello. Survived by her devoted husband, Gerald Gibson, their two children, Anthony (Amber) Gibson of Ridgeland, SC, and Jeremy (Angela) Gibson of East Nassau, NY, in addition to their eight grandchildren; Kaiden, Killian, Preston, Vada, River, Thaddeus, Lorenzo, and Willow Gibson, all of whom loved and adored their Grandma.
Sandra is also survived by her sisters; Mary Colello, Catherine Mapes, Adalynne (Leroy) Blowers, Sharon (Don) Lawton as well as several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Predeceased by her sister Gloria (Colello) Legnard, and brother Joseph Colello, as well as her mother-in-law Marlene Gibson.
