Sherrilyn M. Longacker

Mom My mom Sherrilyn Longackr left this world on April 26, 2018. Her family was everything to her. Her last thoughts were of us and how we would be without her. I did my best to reassure her that I would watch over everyone and carry on. I told her it was ok to rest. My mom and dad David built a family that has fought so many battles, but the one thing we always had was love. That family included me, her daughter Lisa, my brothers Lucus, and Damien. My mom and dad were together since High School and were soul mates. She was his rock and he softened her edges. They truly completed each other. She was so worried about him without her. I always looked to them for an example of what love should be. Lucus was her gentle loving jokester, who was full of life. Damien was her special boy. His is the sunlight that rules our sky. Born with special needs she was always protective of him. He was always first last and for most on her mind. I know over the years the reason she had fought so hard was mostly for him. For 17 years she fought valiantly against lung disease. Suffering so much to come back to the family she loved so much. I stood by her bedside so many times in awe of her amazing strength and courage. This time though we knew the struggle was just too much and it was time. My mom and I talked and we made the decision together. During our talk before she passed she gave me the gift of her trust. She gave me the torch and I promised to take it and continue to guide and protect our family. I know everyone says I am strong and if I am it’s because I am my mother’s daughter. Her shoes are mighty and I just hope that I am half the warrior my mom was. G o in peace mom you have earned your rest. Know that my promise will be kept and as much as we will miss you we 1 / 2 will be ok.
