Susan J. (Gardner) DuPont

Susan J. DuPont, Gardner of Wynantskill, 76 passed away on Friday July 29, 2022, at St Peter’s Hospital
with family by her side. Born in Troy on July 27, 1946, she was the daughter of the late William and Clara
Goetz Gardner. Susan was raised in Watervliet, NY where she attended St. Brigid’s Grammar School, and
graduated from Watervliet High School. Susan was a jack of all trades. She was a hairdresser, worked for
Coverts Manufacturing, sold Tupperware, provided daycare for family and friends, and Retired from the
Golub Corporation (Price Chopper)
Known as “Gram”; she touched so many lives with her kindness and love. She enjoyed camping, baking,
dancing, crafts, and crocheting. Family and friends are blessed by her crocheted, blankets, sweaters,
hats, scarfs, superhero costumes and mermaid tails, which she made with love in every stitch.
Connections to family and friends were especially important to her and the door to her home was
always open. She made it a point to routinely visit with her brothers and sisters, she attended luncheons
with St Brigid’s and Watervliet High classmates. She looked forward to her Wednesday crochet group
and Tuesday night dinners with family. Gram made and kept connections wherever she went.
Susan was a loving mom to John DuPont of Averill Park, Susan (Michael) McDowell of Wynantskill,
William DuPont of Connecticut; beloved grandmother of Jaime (Anthony) Welch of Rensselaer, Morgan
DuPont of Florida, Courtney McDowell of Virginia, Katie McDowell of Saratoga. Adored great
grandmother of Aria Welch of Guilderland, JJ Welch of Guilderland, Brynlee Welch of Rensselaer, and
Kynslee Welch of Rensselaer; dear sister of Patricia (late Henry) Mangene, of Wynantskill, Ronald (Linda)
Gardner of North Troy, Debbie (late Rick) Shevy and Timothy (Patty) Gardner both of Watervliet.
She was predeceased by her loving husband John, her sisters Connie (late Dave) Baker, Janet (late John
Fisher) Schroeder, and Mary (Bob) Rosencrans; her brothers William (late Thelma) Gardner, Robert
Gardner, Fred (Diane) Gardner.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 6, at 11am in St Jude the Apostle Church,
Wynantskill. Interment will follow in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet. In Lieu of flowers, contributions
may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital or St Jude the Apostle Church
