Troy – Susan R. “Nunu” Kennedy-Terry, 75, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and the heart of her family, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Samaritan Hospital, surrounded by those she cherished.
Born and raised in Troy, Susan was the daughter of the late Joseph John Kennedy and Rita (Helen) McCafferty Kennedy.She also leaves behind her surviving brother, Joseph Kennedy, and was predeceased by her siblings Maureen, John (Clarkie) Charles (Ricky), and Judith, as well as other beloved family members.
Known to all as “Nunu,” she was the epitome of warmth, humor, and unwavering care. She devoted her life to nurturing not just her own family, but everyone she met. As a caregiver by nature, Susan became a cherished private caregiver for many, including Margaret “Peggy” Kelly and Charlene “Bunny” O’Hara. She lovingly guided her own mother through her final days with remarkable grace and compassion.
Family was the center of Nunu’s world. She is survived by her biological children: Steven Kennedy-Smith (deceased), Tara Terry, and Susan Terry; and by her chosen children, LaQuisha Brunson, Earl Miller, and Derek Jackson, who were as dear to her as her own. Her grandchildren, in loving order: Devante Hill, Terah Jones, Michael Hill, Anthony Thompson, Marcus Thompson, Emahnee Shelton, Nore-Onna Thomas, James Turner, Tavon Lockridge, Jordan Terry, Lamont Williams, and Quinell Holland. She held great adoration for her great-grandchildren Alonzo Thompson and Marcella (Marci) Barnes.
Susan is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews: Joseph Jr, Judy, Sheila, James, Gregory, Timmy, Keysha, Josh, and Tina, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Nunu’s legacy is one of extraordinary love and resilience. Her home was a sanctuary of laughter and care, where many found comfort. She will be remembered for her quirky humor, her tireless devotion, and the gentle strength that defined her life.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Susan’s remarkable journey on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the John H. Clinton Funeral Home, now located at the Wynantskill Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Road, Wynantskill. May her beautiful spirit continue to inspire us all.
