Wynantskill, NY – Suzanne Elizabeth Beattie – a confidante to many and a friend to all – passed away peacefully on November 13, 2023, after a long-fought battle with cancer, with her daughter Kelsey Gloria by her side. She was 54.
Suzanne was the daughter of Robert S. Beattie, Sr. and Gloria Mastrogiacomo Beattie. She attended grade school in Wynantskill, NY and graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy, NY in 1987. Suzanne dedicated over 30 years of her career in human services and related fields, including over 25 years at the Center for Disability Services.
She led with grace and advocated with every part of her being to provide quality of life and support to marginalized populations. A generous, witty, remarkable human being, who truly embodied the more the merrier. When Suzanne was in good company, she was content doing something she loved, or nothing at all. Whether it be soaking up the sun on family vacations, sipping her morning coffee with her pup or traveling with her daughter Kelsey.
She will be remembered as #4 of 7, the fun aunt, a best friend, and her most important role, Kelsey’s mommy. She was a pillar of strength. A poised and powerful warrior. Suzanne is survived by her adoring daughter Kelsey (Anthony Valenti) and her faithful dog Jackson. Her memory will be cherished by her father Robert Beattie Sr. (Patricia) and devoted siblings Sheila Beattie of Atlanta, GA, Karen (Charles) Claus of Clemmons, NC, Robert (Peggy) Beattie of Rensselaer, NY, Kevin Beattie (Stacey) of Niskayuna, NY, Laurie (Paul) Kokkinides of Ballston Lake, NY and Mary Margaret (John) Brown of Troy, NY. She is also affectionately remembered by 18 nieces and nephews and an infinite amount of family and friends. Suzanne was predeceased by her mother, Gloria.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 1:00p to 5:00p at The Country Club of Troy (100 Troy Country Club Road, Troy, NY). This celebration is a time to share a special story, a favorite memory, a poem that resonates and reminds you of Suzanne.
