Ft. Lauderdale, Florida - Thomas Anthony Muzicka, 71 passed away on December 7, 2025 at Broward Medical Center.
Born in Troy on May 30, 1954, he was the son of the late Stella (Olive) and Anthony Muzicka and brother of the late Stephen Muzicka.
Raised in Wynantskill and educated at Catholic Central High School and Hudson Valley Community College, Tom went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Florida International University. He then proudly achieved his professional engineering license while working in the civil engineering field in south Florida. His journey of professional growth began in 1980 with a position at Metro-Dade Transit Agency serving as a member of the senior staff managing construction of a heavy rail transit system. Through the 80's and into the early 2000's Tom broadened his experience working at firms such as Kaiser Engineers, Carr Smith Corradino, Dade Transportation Consultants and American Consulting Engineers of Florida LLC. The finale of his work life brought him to being employed with Broward County as the Capital Program Administrator in the Highway Construction and Engineering Department. In his spare time Tom enjoyed deep sea fishing, gardening, bike riding and developed an interest in collecting fine art while at the same time being a cat dad to several kitty companions.
It was on the verge of his retirement from Broward County that cancer reared its ugly head shortchanging a long, productive life. Tom's plans of building his retirement home in the hills of Rensselaer County surrounding Taconic Lake would now be cut short. Tom is survived by his sister Irene and brother-in-law James McNamara, brothers Larry and Paul both of Rensselaer County, and his cousin Carol and her husband William Charping from North Carolina.
He was a great brother and friend who will be sorely missed.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday March 28, 2026 at the Wynantskill Funeral Home. Committal will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wynantskill.
